I am sure many times on the internet you have read about how someone has a system in which you don't have to "sell" at all.  Throughout this blog I have talked about many things not being true when it comes to current ads for business opportunities online, and this is one of the biggest ones.  If you are going to be successful in home business at any level, you will have to do some selling.

Now legitimate internet entrepreneurial opportunities will be up front about this and tell you the selling is required.  Now the type of seller you are makes a huge difference between you being wildly successful or being beaten and bruised emotionally.  Traditional home businesses tell you that you aren't selling, just putting people through the system.  They tell you to follow the script, not to answer questions, and just get them on the presentation call.  What transpires is the prospect is annoyed by you because you come across as pushy.  This is an easy way to turn off people you are talking to.

The new way of prospecting is actually having a conversation with someone.  When you focus on the prospect and ask questions to see what they really want, you are more effective.  If you listen to the other person and figure out what they need and are looking for, you can better present your opportunity to reflect their needs.  Most of the time people are looking for someone to listen to them and help them with their problem.  They came looking for you for a reason.

Now while you are having a conversation with them always remember you are selling yourself, not the opportunity.  There are other legitimate internet entrepreneurial opportunities out there, but you need to give them a reason to join you.  Opportunities on the internet will come and go but you are a constant.  The best marketers are able to set themselves apart from everyone else and give the prospect confidence that joining them is the right decision.
